On Tuesday, the 22nd of March, Brussels, Belgium became a victim of a horrible bombing attack. Explosions went off in the airport and the underground train stations of Brussels. 31 people lost their lives in the attack, and dozens of people were wounded. The new attack has brought fear to people all around the world, and heartbreak to the city of Brussels.

The effects of the bombing were extreme. Windows were blown out and ceilings collapsed. The groups of people running out of the airport building added to the chaos. An hour later, bombs went off in the train station, and the situation was not any better. People had to run through the dark tunnels to reach safety. The airport and metro shut down quickly after the attacks, and flights to and from Brussels were changed or canceled. Belgium raised its terror alert to the highest level. Planes and trains were forced to change their routes, and people were ordered to stay where they were. Security in airports tightened immediately after.

The attack on Paris, France occurred only a few short months ago, and shocked everyone. Now officials are trying to find connections between the attacks on Brussels and Paris. When a key suspect in the Paris attack was arrested, many people feared more violence would occur. It’s also said that there could be more attackers on the loose that could create more threats.

Our heart goes out to the victims of this attack, and we hope for the swift recovery of Brussels.
