Every school has a hero. Here at Canyon Vista, our heroes are the Helping Hands club. Helping Hands tries to make a difference in others’ lives by their endless volunteering and dedication. From volunteering at a nursing home on Christmas to donating things to others in need, Helping Hands club has done wonders for many people.

Helping hands is an organization in our school that help make a change in everyone’s life. Ms. Davalos sponsors this club because she wanted to help out around the community and reach out to the helpless. Their main goal is to help around the school, assisting teachers and staff with odd jobs like being a janitor etc, but they have expanded their goals to help their community like volunteering at a nursing homes, children’s homes, pet shelters, and even donating things to assist people in need.

Even though there aren’t many members, Helping Hands has accomplished great goals. Robin Sambuis, 6th grader and proud member of Helping Hands says he has a lot of fun in the club. He joined the club because he wanted to leave a smile on everyone’s face.

Helping hands has successfully completed many missions like helping animals on the street, spending time to celebrate Christmas at a nursing home, and donating plenty of food and supplies for the needy. Their next mission is to go down to the Austin Soup Kitchen and volunteer to serve food to the people there. They also have been planning to go to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to spend time with the sheltered dogs and cats.

The club hasn’t reached its popularity yet and definitely needs more members. This club’s vision is to make an influence in everyone’s life and and help the community needs. You can join this club next year and help make their vision come true.
