What it Feels Like to be New

This article is about my experience moving to Texas!

What+it+Feels+Like+to+be+New

I have lived in California my whole life. Moving to Texas was a bit of a change. I was sad to leave California but extremely excited to see what would come my way. I knew that it would be different, but I was eager. California was an amazing place to live in. The weather is always sunny, and there are so many places to see there. I had lots of family and close friends there which I visited quite often, so it was hard to leave them. My first day in Austin was surprising, in a good way. I wasn’t expecting how different it would be from home.

During my first few days of school, I was finding my way around. It took me a while to get used to such a big school, but I figured out where everything was. Canyon Vista is such a great school, and a huge school too. It was a difficult change from going to a school in California to a school here. My friends helped me around with any questions I had. They were such a huge help, as well as the teachers. They were really kind and helped me with any questions I had. I play volleyball and tennis, so next year, in high school, I can’t wait for the volleyball season to start and try out for the team. Currently, I joined the tennis team and I can’t wait to play matches and make new friends. The funny thing is that the school I went to in California has the same mascot as here. Overall, the school was great! Honestly, the only thing I’m waiting for right now is for summer vacation to start…

Comparing California and Texas, it’s almost like home. It might take me a while to get used to the place, but I know that I’ll love living here. I can’t wait for my cousins to come and visit me here. They also live in California, so we visited each other quite often. All our lives we lived really close to each other, so moving two states away was difficult, not only for them but also my close friends. I would also like to go back to California and visit my friends there. And when I do, I can’t wait!
