International+Womens+Day

Women are strong, independent and big dreamers. We change the world. But, we also need equal rights. International Women’s day recognizes all of this. The official day of this celebration is March 8.

IWD first started in 1911 in Denmark, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. It first came to the United Nations in 1975. We celebrate and bring attention to this holiday by marches, wardrobe, and social media. Some celebrities who have made their public voice heard on this day was Kim Kardashian West, Emma Watson, Ellen DeGeneres, Adele, Serena Williams, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, Madonna, Blake Lively, Priyanka Chopra, Alec Baldwin, J.K Rowling, and Cara Delevingne.

Being able to honor women on this day is a joyful occasion let us look at some female figures and how they view women empowerment.

“When I’m hungry, I eat. When I’m thirsty, I drink. When I feel like saying something, I say it.” Madonna

“If you can’t go straight ahead, you go around the corner.” Cher

“We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better.” J.K. Rowling

“We need to reshape our own perception of how we view ourselves. We have to step up as women and take the lead.” Beyoncé

Women need to support one another. Inspire one another. And understand one another. Women need to fight for what is right. Women need to be recognized for there work. Which is why we have an International Women’s Day.
