Ahh yes. A classic movie with spirits, frog people, and a creepy faceless being. That is Spirited Away. Spirited Away has a lot of charm, interesting settings, and likable characters. Being one of the many movies created by Studio Ghibli (a company known for amazing movies) you know it’s going to be good.

Spirited Away is about a girl named Chihiro, and her family, who, while in the process of moving to a new town, stumble upon a mysterious place, that warps them to the spirit realm. Her parents are turned to fat slobbering pigs, while Chihiro escapes, and is hidden. She must then work at a bathhouse for the spirits while attempting to figure out how to get home. Any more details and I would spoil too much of the movie.

I never found myself feeling the wrong emotions towards characters. What I mean by that is that I feel hatred towards the villain, hope for the hero, so on and so forth. All the characters were likable (even the villains) and I found myself missing them when they were offscreen. There’s a large cast of creative creatures that come in all shapes and sizes, and there was always someone new around the corner. Even with the wide variety of characters, I never was lost on who was who, due to their unique designs and interesting characteristics.

In all, I would rate Spirited Away a 9.8/10. I typically rate movies a bit on the low side, so this is obviously a good movie. The only flaws were a few minor details, that are too small to go into, but I was easily able to look over them. There’s so much in this movie I want to express, but I can’t due to not wanting to spoil the movie. I highly recommend you watch this if you like fantasy movies, and with that, I bid you farewell.
