Avatar the Last Airbender is an incredible SHOW (not the movie) and here’s why you should watch it. Avatar, despite being an old show, is memorable to all who watch it. Avatar’s plot focuses on Aang, the Last Airbender, and his journey to master all 4 elements to defeat the malevolent Fire Lord Ozai. The show has lovable characters and amazing storytelling. Some might say, “Avatar is a kids’ show! It’s animated!” However, the show’s story and character arcs speak to many ideas much deeper and more thought-provoking than your average kids’ show.

Avatar’s world-building is one of the many things that makes it great. ATLA takes place in four different nations bearing the names of the elements: Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. Certain people in these nations can control the elements; this is known as bending. Each of the nations in the show is unique, just like the elements that share their names. The bending styles are all inspired by traditional martial arts, and the nations are filled with stunning representations of multiple different Eastern cultures that are not frequently found in Western television and film.

Avatar also excels in making great characters. Despite having godly powers, everyone in ATLA has problems. Some of these include grief and loss, feeling weak and powerless, handling your girlfriend turning into the moon (“That’s rough, buddy”), and many more. Toph, one of Aang’s friends, is blind and is still one of the strongest benders in Avatar. All the characters, mostly Sokka, are relatable to each of the viewers, cementing ATLA as one of the greatest shows ever. In the guise of a children’s show on Nickelodeon, Avatar catches lightning in a bottle.

Thanks to its world-building and characters, Avatar is one of the best shows of all time. Watch Avatar: The Last Airbender today!
