Moana 2, a new hit movie, came out on Nov. 27. People have had a lot of feedback, critics, and compliments about the movie. Moana 2 takes place years after the original Moana. The main character, Moana, is many years older and now has another journey ahead of her. We asked some students about their opinion on the new movie.
“I think it was way too long and was milked (desperate to make the movie longer),” Anusha Chandra said. “The songs didn’t hit as hard as Moana and the little sister was literally pointless.”
Chandra said overall she thought it was quite boring and it felt like the filmmakers had stretched the movie and made scenes that weren’t worth making and didn’t contribute to the story.
“It’s a five star movie for me,” Anika Gangwar said. “From the music to the little details on the tattoo, everything was fabulous.”
Gangwar said she would definitely recommend the movie to a friend, she talked a lot about why she liked the plot and how it showed the progression of Moana to the Moana in Moana 2.
The Daily Telegraph has given the movie four stars, also adding that the movie was a “giddily animated triumph.” The Empire had also given a similar rating, saying the film was “a touch less fresh than the original” yet still was amazingly showing a lot of emotion and energy. However, The Guardian disagreed, giving the movie two stars and saying that “this frictionless piece lacks genuine passion.”
Overall, Moana 2, seems to fall short behind the original Moana. People say that the original was a lot better, and some say that the movie was outstanding and did a really nice job of presenting the film.
