The gym classes have a swimming unit that happens every year. Different people have different opinions on it, and what they want to change about it.
“I would prefer because I like swimming but I don’t like how we only get like 10 minutes for everybody to change and get ready,” said Sarang Chong (7).
People have different reasons, why they would or would not like to participate in the swimming unit.
“I’m between participating in it and not, because on really hot days I will, but then it also seems really crowded, because I’m in girls athletics with like 100 girls,” said Ella Kobel (7).
Having a pool is somewhat a privilege, because we are one of a few middle schools who actually have a pool.
“I would have a pool at CVMS because we get to have a swim unit and in the summer we get to use it, but It’s not really a privilege because everyone can use it. It might be against other schools though,” said Anika Gangwar (7).
The city has to go through the work to maintain it though.
“The City of Austin maintains the pool, and I’m sure it is hard work for them. The things I know they do is repaint the black stripes every year and then they check the water to make sure it has all of the right components of a swimming pool,” said Coach Govea.
The pool can be a fun advantage that we have, but there are things they can change about the swimming unit situation.
“Oh, I would wish there were more stalls or showers for people to change in during the swim unit, and the floors wouldn’t be so wet. Also the pool can get crowded, especially if you are in athletics and there are 120 girls in your class,” said Sania Patel (7).
