The king of clay also known as Rafa or Rafael Nadal won the US open for men’s singles for 3rd time and returns to the #1 status yet again. The United States Open Tennis Championship is a modern version of The US national championship from 1881.

His uncles Miguel, and Toni Ángel were both professional sportsmen–while Miguel was a soccer player, Toni played tennis. Rafael started playing tennis at the age of three, and by 1994, he had tasted victory at a regional tennis tournament for under-12 players. Being trained under his uncle Toni, he learnt how to play with his left hand, despite being a right-hander. By the age of twelve, he excelled in the game, and won several tournaments in his age group. When he was fifteen, he began playing professional tennis.

That brings us back to the 2017 US Open. With P. Carreño Busta losing to Kevin Anderson in the semi-finals and Nadal winning the semi-finals eliminating J. del Potro left Nadal to go up against Kevin Anderson. Anderson is a South-African player and winner of the South African open. In the finals, Nadal played 3 sets. He won the first one with a grand score of 6-3. The second set with the same score. In the third set Anderson started catching up but Nadal took the lead and one the third set with a score of 6-4.

Nadal returning to number one means that he will probably get more sponsors. Federer losing in the quarter finals proves that Federer did not do as well as he normally does in the US open.  Nadal winning the cup yet again will go down in tennis history
