Veteran’s Day Pep Rally

Protecting what you love. Standing for what you believe in. Think about people who have done just that.

Honoring those brave veterans was the main focus of the school’s Pep Rally that took place on November 11th. The students flawlessly tied their respect for the veterans in their display of talents.

The event opened up with Honors Band playing “Marches of the Armed Forces” by Michael Sweeney. Their music was lovely and did an excellent job incorporating recognition and appreciation of the people who have served. The band all played wonderfully together, each part smoothly flowing to another.

Many of the veterans who spoke are family members of our Mustangs and some, part of the school’s staff. The veterans’ inspiring words and speeches moved many. Memories of strong, brave people flooded back to them. They knew they had served for a reason, a purpose. They wanted to protect their country, to make an impact on lives.

The cheerleaders made the crowd come alive, rousing it with school spirit. Lauren P., a 7th grade cheerleader, said her favorite part of the performance was pulling off stunts because they were fun to do. The cheerleaders are very talented and weren’t afraid to show that being energetic can brighten someone’s day.

Second period dance class performed to the song “Brave” by Sara Bareilles. They skillfully carried out the message that being brave is being strong. They showed that you shouldn’t be afraid to take a stand and put into action what you think is right, just like the veterans.

A collection of astounding feats and talents perfectly planned by Canyon Vista Student Council was a powerful tribute to the strong, the courageous, the kind. The ones who were willing to risk everything for the sake of somebody they may not have even known. The ones who truly made an impact on many lives.
