Justice League is a DC comic based Fantasy/Science Fiction movie that released on November 17, 2017. Justice League was rated at a 7.2/10 by The Internet Movie Database (IMDB). This movie was originally directed by Zack Snyder (Director of Batman v. Superman) but he had to leave due to a family emergency. Snyder was disliked because of the hate surrounding Batman v. Superman. Following the success of Wonder Woman, a more lighthearted and fun film, as well as the family problem, Joss Whedon, director of the similar superhero team movie Avengers, was brought on.

The two styles are very different, which explains why the movie goes from dark and gritty one moment to funny and lighthearted the next. This caused the movie to be a success because both Directors had their styles of directing in the movie. Both fans of the Avengers series and those of the Batman and Superman series enjoyed this movie. Therefore, it appealed to a larger demographic. This also caused the movie to have dislikes as it had too many jokes incorporated into every scene.

So what is the movie about?

When faced with Steppenwolf, Bruce Wayne brings on Diana of Themyscira (Wonder Woman) to the team. Together, they recruit Arthur Curry (Aquaman), Barry Allen (The Flash), and Victor Stone(Cyborg).

“I think the movie would have been better if it was directed by just one person, whether it was Joss Whedon or Zack Snyder. The movie had too many themes, the visuals were very dreary, and it felt like Cyborg was just there because they needed another member. They should have utilized Cyborg and made his story a bigger part of the movie,” Oliver Barnfield (6) said.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie. I liked how they included backstories of all the superheroes and how they brought the Justice League team together instead of just starting the movie with the team already assembled. I didn’t appreciate the overuse of comedy as it kind of distracted the viewers’ attention from the real plot.
