The Natural Environment

Many would agree that our natural and cognitive worlds have grown far apart the past few years. Most of us, especially teenagers, use too little time in nature today than in the recent decades. Today I will help you find an activity you can do outside and enjoy, explain the science behind the link of nature and happiness, and the importance of keeping the environment clean.

For those that don’t like to spend their time exercising cooped up in a gym, Mother Nature provides the perfect, playful environment. Rafting in cold rapids is a great sport to consider if you like to swim or enjoy rough sports. If you’re having a bad day, it’s the ideal sport to get you in a good mood again. Another activity is rock climbing, something not for the faint hearted. It best suits the risk-takers and brave souls that love a wonderful view. Another activity is camping, one of my personal favorites. Hanging out with best friends and pulling all-nighters are the best parts of camping. Nevertheless, there are many fun activities to do in nature. From up high in the sky to down in the canyons, there’s something for everyone!

It’s known that nature depicts certain feelings, but is it somehow linked to happiness? An experiment was conducted in 2014 that when a person enters nature’s outside environment, the blood flow will increase and the tense brain muscles will relax. When blood rushes to all parts of the body, the 5 senses are sharpened and you will start to hear sounds you’ve never heard before. It helps clear your brain and allows you to become more alert, so everything will essentially be more enjoyable. So go out into nature! Your brain depends on it!

The environment has given us the luxury of a lifetime. Isn’t it time we give back and show our appreciation? Well, you might wonder how such a small human in such a big universe can make a difference. But, you could also question how so many of us can make so much pollution at the same time. Whether on the beach or hiking a trail, if you come across litter, pick it up. It’s respectful to nature and this way we can keep the environment nice and clean!

Hopefully this article has helped you find your favorite activity to do outside or maybe be more appreciative of what nature has done for us. But just remember, when you’re feeling down or having a bad day, nature will help you out!
