Before you arrive at your bus stop, and even while you’re on the bus, Mustangs in the Cross Country Club are running one to three miles on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.

“Kids nowadays don’t know how to relieve stress, and kids don’t even realize they’re stressed sometimes,” says Coach McKinley, “It’s a way that I can get all of my emotions out. It makes me feel much so much happier. As soon as I am done running, I feel accomplished and proud, and relieved that your workout is done for the day.” Coach McKinley also stated that “Kids often times, after their homework, sit at the TV, or computer games, and don’t know how much anxiety they have, and how stressed they are.”

The season for Cross Country is typically five to six weeks long. They practice on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday. When Cross Country is about halfway through the season (three weeks in), Cross Country will start to have their annual meets. There, they will run a two mile sprint. The runners will race against Cross Country Clubs from other middle schools in the district. All members will race, and each runner will place in the district ranks. They will then rank each team by how fast they are and what order they finish.

Although it is too late to sign up for Cross Country, you can still cheer them on at the meets posted here!
