Day in the Life of Ms. Neill
You may not realize it, but the teachers and staff members at Canyon Vista are always hard at work–and have lives outside of school. Today, we’ll be highlighting the daily life of one of Canyon Vista’s beloved staff members, Ms. Neill.
On the weekdays, Ms. Neill’s alarm goes off at 5:05 AM, but she normally tries to sleep in. Her first priority is always coffee. After waking up her son and making breakfast, it’s a 30 minute drive from Round Rock to Canyon Vista.
Once school is over for the students, Ms. Neill aims to leave school at 5:00, but that can vary sometimes. After running errands on the way home and cooking dinner for her family, they all go on a walk with their two rescue mutts and talk about their day.
On the weekends, she loves to read. Ms. Neill especially enjoys historical fiction and murder mysteries. Her family loves taking road trips to historical sites, visiting her other family members in Corpus Christi, and most importantly, going to the Renaissance Fair and Sherwood Forest.
Speaking of family, teaching has been a part of her family for quite some time. Her mother was a middle school teacher, then an assistant principal. Ms. Neill was a substitute teacher in college, then decided to pursue teaching as a living.
Ms. Neill is much more than just a teacher. As one of her students, 8th grader Arsham Mohajeri said, “She’s such an exciting, sarcastic, and cool person.” She’s also a loving mother, Renaissance fanatic, and so much more. She isn’t just a history teacher–she’s one of a kind.
