The Hobbit

Officer Pope and Mrs. Hagerty

The Hobbit is a very famous book by J.R.R.Tolkien about how 13 dwarves named Dwalin, Balin, Kili, Fili, Dori, Nori, Ori, Gloin, Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, and Thorin, A wizard named Gandalf the Grey, and of course a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. This is the prequel to the Lord of the Rings series. In this book/movie trilogy, these 15 people go on a quest to kill Smaug the dragon, a fire drake who has killed most of the dwarves in the Kingdom Under the Mountain, to reclaim the lonely mountain and what’s rightfully theirs.

On the journey they run into three Trolls and Bilbo helps save them by distracting the trolls until gandalf arrives and turns the trolls into stone. Then they find weapons in the cave where the trolls lived and get three major elven forged weapons for their journey Glamdring which goes to Gandalf, Orcrist the Goblin Cleaver which goes to Thorin, and Sting which goes to Bilbo and can also glow blue when enemies are nearby. So on they run into the Rivendell Elves, Goblins, Gollum, the Eagles, Orcs, Beorn (a bear shapeshifter who’s the last of his kind), Mirkwood Spiders, Sauron the Necromancer, Mirkwood Elves, Lake Men (Humans), and finally Smaug.

After they defeat Smaug word spreads and the Battle of the Five Armies begins. Eventually, the Elves, Humans, Dwarves, And Eagles join forces to attack the Orcs and defeat them. But Thorin, Fili, and Kili die in the process. Once everything is over, Bilbo goes back home to the Shire only to find his cousins selling his possessions which he soon gets back.

What I love about the movie is how they stayed very true to the book. Only a few things they left out and a few things that they added in. I give it a 10 out of 10. And if you haven’t seen it you definitely should.
