Too often do we think about the Mascot as just a suit that shows up at our pep rallies now and again when in truth, it’s so much more than that, it is our symbol and our main representation when it comes to us as a school.
“I keep good grades mostly just because I want to be the Mascot next year,” Anna Chung (7th) said.
To be placed into the position of Mascot you have to first audition by answering a form the year before. Then be chosen by a group of people to determine whether or not you are fit for the part, and lastly placed into the position the next year.
“Seeing the mascot round the corner at every pep-rally really brightens up my day, mostly because of how energetic he is,” Felix Helcel (8th) said.
The Mascot has been a part of the school for decades, and even if it has changed a little it still represents the student body of Canyon Vista Middle School.
“I feel the importance of the mascot, even during normal school hours,” Max Fernandez said.
The mascot goes to usually three games a year for Football, Volleyball, and Basketball. The mascot is also an integral part of the pep-rally each year, then at the last pep-rally for the year it is revealed who is in the suit.
“I can’t wait to see who’s in the suit this year,” Connor Mcnutt (6th) said.
