Canyon Vista’s 7th grade football team started off with a loss against the Chisholm Trail Cougars. Final score being 36-0 Chisholm.
Then the Mustangs played against the Hopewell Hornets. The Canyon Vista Mustangs started off with a nice touchdown by Eli Windwillow with a 2 point conversion by Londyn Vance. Not too long after, Hopewell came in and scored a touchdown. Toward the end of the game Canyon Vista scored a touchdown to take the lead to win the game.
Next game against Cedar Valley was rough for the Mustangs, allowing a touchdown for Cedar Valley. With the Mustangs’ hopes down led to a loss against Cedar Valley.
Canyon Vista, ready to play against Walsh and win, arrived at the football field. It started off with Canyon Vista stopping Walsh from gaining a first down, Then Walsh came and did the same. Less than a minute left on the clock and then Windwillow gets the ball and runs 20 yards to get first and goal but on our next play with 15 seconds left on the clock, the Canyon Vista Mustangs don’t score and the game ends with a 0 – 0 tie.
Then the Mustangs went up against the Ridgeview Panthers. The Mustangs start off with a touchdown in the first quarter but the Panthers immediately come back with a touchdown to put the score to 8 – 8. But in the 3 quarter the Mustangs scored again to put them in the lead but with 30 seconds left in the 4 quarter the Panthers scored to make it a tie of 14 -14. Then the Mustangs went up against the Cougars again and the Mustangs got absolutely demolished 28 – 0.
Next game against Hopewell started off good for the Mustangs, with a 6-0 lead by Jason Peng but didn’t get the two point conversion. Start of the second quarter another touchdown by Windwillow. Not too long after Windwillow scored another touchdown for a 18-0 lead but the two point conversion was short. Last quarter of the game Windwillow scored a 50 yard touchdown for a 24-0 win.
”From day one to the last day of football they improved a lot, they performed great, a lot of them have never played football before and by the end of the season they looked like they have been playing for years,” said Coach Azios.
