Student-led clubs (though sponsored by teachers) are a good way for students to express themselves, their interests, and their skills, while getting other students involved as well. One of the clubs established this year is the Paranormal Club, started by Charlie Bowling and Langston Buentello, both 6th graders. The Paranormal Club is all about things without explanation, whether it be ghosts, extraterrestrials, how creepy the fourth floor is after hours, and anything else of that nature.
“This is one of my favorite things to run, because it’s just somewhere you can be yourself,” Mrs. Buentello, 8th grade history teacher and club sponsor, said.
In their first meeting on October 30, 2024, the Paranormal Club discussed members’ personal experiences with the extraordinary, then reviewed videos of ghost sightings. The club’s conversations stretched over several corners of the paranormal world, from ghost dogs to spirit orbs and more. Snacks were supplied and will be for every meeting afterwards.
The Paranormal Club is new and not especially large, with meetings in the past topping off at only seven students attending, but it’s an open-minded club with a love for the creepy parts of our world. The club is very student-engaging, and most of its time is spent discussing personal experiences of members. You don’t necessarily need to have experience with a ghost to join, but it does make things all that much more interesting.
Though there aren’t specific meet times scheduled, The Paranormal Club does have a Google classroom and you may contact Mrs. Buentello via email to request to be added.
