Get that gum off my desk!
Look under your desk. You might see a few pieces of chewed gum stuck to it. They might even be your pieces of gum. The first question that might come to your mind is why would someone put that gum here when there’s a trash can right there. Let’s look at some possibilities,
It’s been proven that people mainly put gum under their desks because of the convenience it brings.
“I think people put gum under their desks because they are too lazy to go to the trash can and throw it away,” said Bismah Salahuddin (7).
But how do teachers and students feel when they notice gum under their desks?
“It’s infuriating. Last year there was a lot of gum, and it got scraped off but now it’s back,” Ms. Acock, 6th grade RLA teacher, said.
Gum that has been in peoples mouths can carry many different types of bacteria, which in turn can cause illness. To avoid this risk, once you’re done chewing your gum just spit it out in a trash can. Simple as that.
