Recently, Apple announced the new release of the new iPhone 16e. This new iPhone is similar to the iPhone 16 that came out in September, almost too similar. There aren’t too many differences between the two. Like always, people have their very split opinions on the phone. So I talked to seventh grade student, Anika Gangwar, who is getting the new iPhone 16e when it comes out.
“I’ve had my phone for three years and it’s not entirely working, so I just want to get an upgrade,” Gangwar said, as her reason for wanting the new phone. “It would be a good way to spend money since I have an older model of iPhone currently. I’ve always wanted Apple Intelligence on my phone ever since they released it. I currently have the IPhone SE so I get to try all the features that I’ve never got to try out; like Genmoji .5 and more.”
She mostly mentioned the fact that she had an older version of the iPhone. Getting the iPhone 16e was a good way to get those features and in turn, get a better, more updated phone. In turn of the release, this also brought up arguments about the very controversial debate; Apple versus Android, which is better? We talked to some people who had opinions on the argument, starting with seventh grader who owns an android phone, Nicolas Pan, who indeed had a lot to say.
“I think Android is better than Apple because for many reasons, first the battery source is way better. Since Android can go many days without dying. Also, Apple comes out with a new phone often, but they are all pretty much the same. Nothing new, they just say they upgraded the camera quality and battery life yet Android still reigns #1 for that,” Pan said, very convinced and confident about his answer. “Android also has a ton better security. Apple phones are easy to hack into and steal information, and Android makes you go through a lot of security precautions to keep the user safe.”
Pan had been using android for a very long time and he seemed to know well about the debate. He said that he feels Apple phones are “glazed” or given more attention than needed. After Pan, we talked to an Apple user, Rajarshi Bhattacharya.
“Apple phones are much easier to use, it’s much smoother and the design of the phone is much more simple and modern,” Bhattacharya said. “These phones also have much more security than other phones; since they are free of malware. Apple has a really strong whetting process, or a good way to clean up and advertise apps before releasing the apps to customers.”
Bhattacharya listed some reasonable points about the Apple phones. However, so did Pan. Although both phones have their pros and their cons, there is still so much controversy between the two; this controversy, for now, is still debatable.
