Best of 2013
During our first six months of existence, we managed to inform and entertain both the student body and Canyon Vista community. We produced some memorable stories and photos that capture the first semester of the 2013-2014 school year. Take a look back at some of the articles our staff have called their favorites of 2013:
- By far, our most popular features were the Guess Who? Contest and Answers.
- Our reporters covered world news with articles on the 50th Anniversary of the Kennedy Assassination and the passing of icon, Nelson Mandela.
- Canyon Echoes hosted our first photobooth at the “Light Up the Night” school dance.
- Mrs. Hagerty gave us the honor of an interview for our first Mustang Profile.
- Canyon Vista was represented at the No Place for Hate Summit, where students learned tactics on how to stop bullying.
- We joined the nation in remembering the tragic events of 9/11.
- As we were all missing summer, reporters covered your favorite vacation spots including South Padre Island.
- We honored family members of Canyon Vista teachers who serve or have served in the military and shared what it’s like to have a soldier in the family.
- We learned what some at our school are thankful for and what others’ holidays wishes are.
- Every Wednesday, we showed you how to live a healthy lifestyle, by convincing you dark chocolate is good for you and passing on a healthy recipe or two.
- We were taken back in time to the great Space Race with the story of Sputnik.
