2014-2015 Fall Orchestra Concert
Here in the Canyon, we have many mustangs with passions and talents alike. A large majority of them play at least one instrument. As many students may know, Canyon Vista hosts five different Fine Arts electives; Art, Orchestra, Band, Choir and Theatre. On Tuesday, October 28th, the Canyon Vista Orchestra had a chance to display their talent during their fall concert at the Round Rock Performing Arts Center. This concert featured performances from the Canyon Vista’s Honors, Philharmonic and Concert Orchestras, who played songs like Buxtehude’s Chaconne in E Minor, Carol Nunez’s M to the Third Power, and Soon Hee Newbold’s Viking.

As a player in the Honors orchestra, I enjoyed the concert very much, as did our conductor, Mrs. Frederick. She said “I was very impressed of the Orchestra’s performance and really enjoyed it myself. I feel as if this was a very good start to the year for our Orchestra, and I believe that it can only get better. Of course, there is always room for improvement, but I am very excited to work with the students this year.”
Furthermore, not only did our orchestra students put lots of effort into the concert, but they were doubly stressed due to the recent All-Region testing. Our mustangs have worked very hard to play their best both in the audition room and during Canyon Vista. We are proud of all of them that auditioned for the TMEA All-Region Orchestra, and have taken first chair for various sections in both of the Region Orchestras. Altogether, 45 mustangs made it into the Region Orchestra. Again, congratulations to all of our mustangs! To check out their audition results, click here.
The Canyon Vista Orchestra will have their Winter Concert on Wednesday, December 17 so make sure to check that out.
