Book Review: Dragonwatch

Book Review: Dragonwatch

***SPOILER ALERT!!!***

Dragonwatch is the long awaited sequel to the Fablehaven series. In this book, Kendra and Seth Sorenson have to face a new danger- a storm of dragons. In the hidden dragon sanctuary of Wyrmroost, Celebrant the Just, King of the Dragons, plots his revenge. He has long seen the sanctuaries as prisons, and he wants nothing more than to overthrow his captors and return the world to the Age of Dragons, when he and his kind ruled and reigned without borders. The time has come to break free and reclaim his power.

Celebrant isn’t the only dragon testing his limits. Dragons in sanctuaries all around the world suddenly trying to break free. Agad, the caretaker of Wyrmroost, sees the need to regroup the ancient order of Dragonwatch in order to confine the dragons to their sanctuaries. However, nearly all the members of the original Dragonwatch have perished, so Agad asks Kendra and Seth to become the new caretakers of Wyrmroost. Agad has already given up his status as caretaker of Wyrmroost to help at sanctuaries where the situation is dire.

The Sorenson siblings much use their powers, their bravery, and their wits to function together as a powerful dragon tamer. First, they must face Celebrant, King of Dragons, and prove that they are worthy to be the caretakers of Wyrmroost. Next, they must face the Somber Knight and the Path of Dreams to discover a hidden scepter. Finally, Seth uses his wits to save the sanctuary, while Kendra has to face Celebrant alone without the help of her brother.

Dragonwatch is an amazing book. After the siblings defeated the demons, now they have to defeat the dragons, which I think is a great conflict. Also, the ability of Kendra and Seth to function together as a dragon tamer shows how much they have progressed from the first book of Fablehaven. This book ends with a cliffhanger, which leaves fans wanting more. I can’t wait to read the second book of Dragonwatch!
