Green Book, an award-winning film. A movie that won three Oscars, three Golden Globes, and seven other awards. Green Book is a truly beautiful and well-done movie.

“Dr. Don Shirley is a world-class African-American pianist, who is about to venture on a concert tour in the Deep South in 1962. In need of a driver and protection, Shirley recruits Tony Lip, a tough-talking bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx. Despite their differences, the two men soon develop an unexpected friendship while confronting racism and danger in an era of segregation.” This is the premise of the cinema.

One reason why this movie is exceptional is how real and eye-opening it was. Seeing the racism instead of hearing about it. Watching the danger instead of presenting caution. Learning about these issues is something you read in textbooks, and it is heartbreaking, however, you have compassion on another level once you see it with your own eyes. Peter Farrelly the director of Green Book did a phenomenal job creating this image in a tasteful way.

Another reason why this is a great quality film is the screenplay. The originality of the production and the story basis was moving. It was a movie that melted your heart by both happy and sad emotions. This was a true story of a bond between two men and I had never heard of them before. That, in my opinion, makes this feature all the better because you’re being educated on two peoples authentic lives. For example how they were treated, their personal lives, and the challenges they had to face.

Now, how did critics think Green Book was? Well, Rotten Tomatoes rated this movie 79%. IMBd rated it 8.3/10. Metacritic rated it 69%. I would rate this film a 95%. I would rate it so because there were some slow moving parts that might not have had as much importance to the story. But, I fell in love with the picture and think it is quite unique to other movies that have been created in the past couple of years.

Green Book was rated PG-13 and I could see why, but if you can see it, I would recommend it. It is an educational cinema as it is an enjoyment. Beauty was distributed throughout the movie and made it a higher level of satisfaction and meaningfulness. I think this movie deserved all of the awards it got and is definitely one that should become more noticed.
