Gaming During A Pandemic

Trapped in cages of our own making, quarantine is one of the most stressful and boring things on Earth. To keep my sanity and to be able to at least make desperate attempts at communication with my friends and family, I’ve been playing a lot of video games. Playing solo games is great, but I’ve found that playing cross platform with friends is so much better. So here’s my list of the best games to play when you’re locked in your house and rotting.

5. Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Everyone’s favorite 2d multiplayer fighting game is here! Fantastic online and local multiplayer and a diverse cast of characters to pummel your friends with makes this an awesome choice for quarantine gaming. I personally play Joker and Cloud the most. The only reason this isn’t higher up on my list is because not everyone has a Switch and Nintendo Switch Online is way too pricey.

4. Fortnite

Yes, I know it may not be your favorite game, but you have to give Fortnite props for it’s cross-platform capabilities. If you’re hungering to battle royale with friends or just build your heart out in Creative, it’s always there in the corner. And be completely honest, the skins look really cool.

3. ARK: Survival Evolved

Who doesn’t like dinosaurs? In ARK, you take the role of a man or woman stranded on a mysterious island populated with all manner of prehistoric creatures. The extensive crafting tree lets you go from primitive tools to an awesome technological grenade launcher, you can tame and ride all kinds of creatures, and build massive, impressive structures with your friends. This game is definitely fairly complicated, but once you’ve got your bearings, surviving on an island with dinosaurs has never been more fun. In fact, pick it up now on Steam for 80% off!

2.Roblox

I’ve been playing Roblox since I was around 7, and I still have my account. Yes, I know it’s mostly populated with and meant for younger kids, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun for you! A huge expanse of different games and really good multiplayer makes this a great choice for quarantine gaming. Get some CoD action in Phantom Forces! Goof around with your friends in Cleaning Simulator! Get some friends together and play some Roblox Uno! Even find a good anime RPG in there!

1.Minecraft

You knew it was coming. Everyone loves Minecraft. There’s nothing more fun than having an awesome survival world where you’ve got a massive house you’re super proud of or building a huge structure and incorporating Redstone in Creative. And surprise surprise, it also has fantastic cross-platform multiplayer! All this greatness in one cheap package! Now’s your time to make a Survival world with some friends and make it super cool! There’s so much you can do in Minecraft that the sky is literally the limit.

Gaming is a good way to keep in touch with friends and family, which I know we all need. I hope you all are happy and healthy, and remain so.
