Coming back to any routine after not doing it for weeks is always hard, but it becomes truly difficult when it’s a full-day routine. Many students around Canyon Vista had trouble getting used to going back to school, while others adjusted quite quickly. A lot of students who had traveled were also dealing with jet lag after switching time zones, which drastically impacts their sleep schedules and ability to wake up at a good time to get to school.
“It’s hard to get used to waking up earlier and having to get ready in the mornings,” Alice Barenys, 8th grade, said.
Overall, longer breaks are much more difficult for both students and staff to come back from, but an issue that arises is how much time we’re given to be allowed to adjust. While coming back from summer break results in days, sometimes weeks, to get situated and slowly get into the routine of doing schoolwork, winter break isn’t as generous. It is true that winter break is a much shorter period of time, but those weeks off of school still leave an impact.
