Hey! Shout out to 7th and 8th graders rights!

As you probably know, Mustang Discovery (Technology, Leadership, or Study Skills) are no longer required to take for our 2017-2018 6th graders, as they were for previous years. Instead, they can take either a language or take Technology/Leadership (with study skills now taught within it). And with that they can also take dance.

On one hand, I’m happy that our school has given them this opportunity but on the other hand I’m a little irritated that they didn’t think of this earlier.

Back in my day (last year),  we had a rotation. For me it was Leadership, Technology, then Study Skills. And the thing was, the weeks weren’t even distributed evenly. OK, not important, but we had to do all this stuff when the new 6th graders can just focus on a language,  something I would have been ecstatic about last year. Starting with a language in 6th grade would have made learning Spanish, French, Chinese, or German languages easier, since there is one extra year to learn it.

I wish they would have thought of this earlier, like other schools have, because it would’ve benefited many of those who wished to learn a language.
