First Track Meet Of The Year at CVMS

Alexia Clamou, Reporter

On March 3rd there was the first track meet of the school year. It took place at Canyon Vista Middle School where the Mustangs whipped the Hernandez Bulldogs, the Cedar Valley Jaguars and the Pearson Ranch Rattlers.

We had quite an awesome showing at the track meet. We had athletes for every event and at least 1 placed on the top three. We had really good relay teams that all placed and one of them even beat the record. The 4 x 200 7th grade girls relay beat the record for quite some time ago by .05 seconds and it was only the first meet. The runners who beat the record are Skylar Zinnecker, Ella Toupin, Cassidy Denton and Catherine Ramage.

There were other first-place relays – the 8th-grade boys did really good with the relays as well. They got first on the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200. The same athletes ran both of the races. The athletes were Javen Barrientes, Jack Brinson, Darian Reynolds and Sean Lin.

Then the 4 x 400 8th grade girls got first place as well. The athletes running were Isabelle Ham, Rachel Iyer, Jackie Liu and Ayame Castel.

We got a score of about 275 for 7th-grade girls 180 for Cedar Valley, 85 for Pearson Ranch and 57 for Hernandez.

Go Mustangs!
