Samsung Galaxy Fold Launch Delayed

Samsung’s revolutionary foldable phone has been delayed indefinitely. The phone, which was expected to be released on April 26, was delayed due to technical issues.

There are multiple problems occurring in peoples phones.  The phone’s foldable display is covered with a protective layer, which looks like a cheap screen protector. Many people tried removing this layer, which caused the displays to fail. The problem for many other people related to the hinge of the phone. The exposed areas on the hinge have allowed debris to get inside the display of the phone. Both of these problems have been acknowledged by Samsung, which convinced them to delay the launch of the expensive phone. According to AT&T, the release date may not be until June 13.

People have also criticized the design of the phone. The Galaxy Fold does not close totally flat and instead has an air pocket near the hinge. There have also been complaints about the bulkiness of the phone, and the notch. The notch is very big and ruins the look of the phone. A lot of apps are not meant for the dimensions of the Galaxy Fold and have black bars on the top and bottom.

At this point though, Samsung has not officially announced a new release date, but they are expected to in the coming weeks. The company has promised to take measures to “strengthen the display protection,” which means they must fix the hardware. This could mean that the futuristic phone could be released much later than previously thought. People who preordered the phone are still guaranteed to keep their spot in line no matter when the phone is released.

Though disappointing, the delay is definitely the right move for Samsung. If the phone was released in its current state, it would damage Samsung’s reputation. Shipping an overly fragile phone would also damage the entire emerging foldable phone industry, which already has an extremely high price tag on phones. Hopefully, Samsung is able to fix their phone and keep the hype behind foldable phones alive.
