Party Games: Telephone and The Mummy Wrap

Disclaimer: This article is only one of many about ‘Party Games’

These two games, Telephone and The Mummy Wrap game are both enjoyable games to play during parties. The more people, the better, but even with not that many people, they still work.

Telephone is a game with many variations, just like Charades and many other games. In this article, I will be showing two ways to play.

Materials:

  • Nothing, unless you want to play music so that the words don’t get heard by as many people.

Telephone 1.0

Instructions:

  • Have everyone sit in a circle.
  • (Optional) If you don’t want to risk the chance of having someone overhear what the actual phrase is, then you can play music to help cover the words up.
  • Choose someone to start. This person should pick a sentence or two to whisper into their neighbors’ ear.
  • Then, the second person should whisper what they think they heard to their neighbor, and so on until the last person is reached.
  • The last person now must say what they heard from their neighbor out loud.

Telephone 2.0

Instructions:

  • Make two teams. If you have a remaining person, they can either be included or they can be a referee.

{The next three rules are the same as the the rules above, minus the first and last ones}

  • The last person now must say what they heard from their neighbor out loud, once the other team is finished.
  • The team with the ending phrase that is the most similar to their starting phrase wins.

The Mummy Wrap game is a fun and quick game. The only problem is that it may take a long time to clean up afterwards, but as long as you have fun, that won’t be a problem!

Materials:

  • (A lot of) Toilet Paper
  • (Optional) Timer

Instructions:

  • Make at least two teams and give each team two toilet paper rolls.
  • Get one person from each team to be the ‘mummy’.
  • The ‘mummy’s’ team members will have to try to wrap the mummy in a short amount of time. Five or four minutes is good enough, and three is good for speed, rather than actually wrapping.
  • The team with the most covered will win.

Have fun!
