Past Present and Future of Smartphones

Past+Present+and+Future+of+Smartphones

Technology is fundamental in the 21st Century. The whole world revolves around technology. The first computers were around a whole room. They had barely any power. They could only compute basic things. The computer which was that big and had little power has now evolved. It has transformed into a being of much more power and far smaller size. It has transformed into the smartphone.

The smartphone is now one of the most fundamental devices in the world. The smartphone comes from many companies, varieties, and shapes. The smartphone also used to have a smaller screen, less computing power and was very bulky. This was the beginning of smartphones. Currently, the main smartphone manufacturers are Samsung and Apple. There are also many new companies coming in such as One Plus, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo.

Ever since the creation of smartphones, they have been trying to get stronger, more waterproof, have a bigger screen, and just be better. The current state of smartphones is that they are getting bigger screens and better screen to body ratios. If we know the current state of smartphones, what will the future hold?

Companies like Samsung are creating foldable screens for phones so the phones themselves can fold. Companies like Oppo and Vivo are improving the screen to body ratio. They have built smartphones with pop up front facing cameras so that they can have an all screen phone. In the future, we can expect the phones to have a full screen and the phones may be clear. A company named polytron has created a clear smartphone prototype. The phones may also have advanced biometrics. Currently, you can use your face and fingerprints to unlock your phone but in the future, you may be able to unlock your phone with your eyes.

The flagships for 2018 from Apple are the iPhone XS and XS Max. These phones are trying to get a better screen to body ratio but still have a notch and a very little bezel. The Vivo and Oppo flagships have a full screen and their front-facing camera pops up from inside the phone which allows the phone to have an immersive experience. The Samsung flagship the S9, and Note 9 are basically just improvements of the previous version.

Phones could also become not just phones but also wearables. With the foldable display technology, we may be able to create a wearable, which transforms into a smartphone. We are also seeing projectors in smartphones. Smartphones such as the Moto Z have an attachable projector mod in the form of something called Moto Mods.

Smartphones are one of the most fundamental tools that we use right now. We use them for work, entertainment, School, and more. They have been getting better and will continue to improve in the days to come. That is what I look forward to. I always say that if I somehow time travel to the future I would get the new phone that came out that year. So, do you look forward to the future of smartphones, and what do you think about the past and the present.
