Thanksgiving Traditions at CVMS
Thanksgiving celebrated the first settlers on America’s first harvest. America is also known as the great melting pot. Many different people from different ethnicities bring different takes on Thanksgiving. Canyon Vista is a big school full of many different people. People from different places, and backgrounds. With an American festival such as Thanksgiving, these people each have their own traditions. These traditions are unique and show aspects of many different cultures.
Robert Ou’s family is from China so they have Chinese food for their Thanksgiving dinner.
“For Thanksgiving, at my house, my mom invites family members and cooks a big feast of turkey, tofu, and more Chinese food.”Robert Ou (7) said.
Other students do more traditional activities during the festive day.
“My family eats turkey, mashed potatoes, and we have an extra family game night where we gather together and have a highly competitive family game night,” Connor Treinert (6) said.
“My family has turkey, cranberry pie, and mashed potatoes.” Daniel Choy (7) said.
Some people have a traditional dinner with a little bit of a twist.
“For Thanksgiving what we do is that we have some meatloaf and chicken. We go and have a big dinner with our friends and family and have a lot of fun,” Alex Quinn (7) said,
Most people have a humongous feast with a lot of food.
“We have a lot of food and have a feast with our family,” Dylan Garza (6) said.
Something that every tradition in Thanksgiving has in common is food, family, a whole lot of fun. The three Fs (food, fun, and family) are a big part of the Thanksgiving tradition for students at CVMS.
