Most of us, have had the satisfaction of eating a thin, salt-coated baked chip, also known as a potato chip. These chips have been changed throughout time, through shape, color, and taste. But only a few people about the history of the potato chip, how created it, or how it was invented. So I will explain how the chip came to be, and what happened to it, years and years later.

The way the potato chip was created was very unpredicted. The potato chip was invented in 1853 by George Crum. Crum was a Native American/African-American chef at the Moon Lake Lodge resort in Saratoga Springs, New York, USA. The restaurant was known for its great french fries, and no one complained about the food there until one day a customer said the fries were too thick, so then Crum made a thinner batch for the customer, once he returned with the new batch the customer still did not like it and thought it was still too thick. At this point Crum was very furious at the customer, so he created an even thinner batch that could not be picked up by a fork. He did it to annoy the customer and make him more furious than he was. Crum finally served the customer for the third time, hoping the customer would hate it, but to his surprise, the customer enjoyed it and how the potato chip was created.

Later on, after that day, the chips that were created were called Saratoga Chips and potato crunches. Soon on later They were packaged and sold in New England. George Crum also opened his own restaurant selling potato chips.

Potato chips have changed a lot over many years like soon people started adding different spices and sweets to the potato chips recipes, changing its taste, as well as changing their color, but in my opinion, I enjoy the originally slated potato chips. because when I eat it, I think of how old it is, and how unexpectedly it was created.

In conclusion, the potato chip had a very weird history behind it, and it has been changed a lot and has had many versions made of it, like bbq, sour cream, spice, and ranch, you can find the perfect chip for you due to all the variety of flavors there are.
