Fortnite is a very very popular game. More than around 40 million players play every month. It is a battle royale game with 100 players falling onto the map and the last one standing gets a victory royale. This is a great game but this concept has been used on another game, PUBG or Player Unknown Battlegrounds. This game is also very popular with over 400 million total players. This game also features 100 players falling onto the map and the last one standing gets a winner winner chicken dinner. PUBG came out before Fortnite. So this raises the question, Is Fortnite a copyright infringement.

There was a lawsuit and that is a highly debatable topic. I will lay out the facts and give you my opinion on it. PUBG’s graphics are realistic. Fortnite’s graphics are very unrealistic and cartoonish. They are two different styles of gameplay. Although both are in the same genre the playstyle is completely different. PUBG is more based on how you would fight in real life while Fortnite is very fantasy like.

Another thing is that Fortnite has a unique building mechanic. You can build forts, and other things to have fun and to protect yourself from enemy fire. PUBG does not have a building mechanic. That mechanic is unique to Fortnite. This building mechanic makes playing Fortnite a very different experience than playing PUBG.

The Battle Royale concept is not just unique to PUBG. The first Battle Royale was the Minecraft hunger games mod. Although there are many similarities between PUBG and Fortnite they are two different games. The lawsuit between PUBG and Fortnite was very heated. In the end, it was dropped by PUBG for no reason.

In my opinion, Fortnite is a very different game from PUBG although there are many similarities, there are many differences. You cannot sue a game just because it falls under the same genre. Fortnite has a unique building mechanic and that drastically changes the gameplay. I will state this once more, Fortnite is very different from PUBG.
