The 2025 Met Gala on May 5 can be described in three words: white, black, and hats. The theme of the Gala was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. This was definitely taken into account, as many of the attendees were wearing extravagant outfits and dresses of black and white shades. I will be ranking the top ten out of the approximately 450 guests in my opinion. They will be ranked by most creative, best looking, and best suited for the wearer.

Starting off strong with number 10 we have Bad Bunny, a Puerto Rican rapper and musician. His real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, and he announced a world tour on May 5. He wore an elegant cinnamon brown suit and a custom-made Prada brimmed hat, representing a pava. A pava is a traditional straw hat made from leaves in Puerto Rico. Bad Bunny completely understood the assignment of the Dandy theme, and I liked that he included his heritage in the look.

At number nine is American rapper and hip-hop artist A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Athelaston Mayers. His music is critically acclaimed, and he is famous for his music and unique fashion styles. A$AP Rocky wore a special design from his own creative business, AWGE to the Gala. It consisted of a crisp black vest, white button down top, slacks, and a classy black tie. His black shades and umbrella completed the look, and I really liked how the outfit gave A$AP Rocky a sense of authority while being laid back and calm. 

Zendaya has previously brought color and style to the Met Gala, but this year her usual spark was nowhere to be found. Zendaya is an American actress, singer, dancer, model, and fashion icon. She is most famous for her acting roles in the TV show Euphoria and the Spider-Man and Dune films. For the Gala she wore a custom white three-piece Louis Vuitton suit, which was designed by Pharrell Williams. She finished the beautiful look with a wide-brimmed hat and tie. It fit the theme, but wasn’t one of her best looks. The plain white didn’t suit her, as she is usually a very colorful person.

This was one of the most surprising and absolutely gorgeous dresses and outfits I’ve ever seen. BLACKPINK member Jennie Kim attended the Met Gala and stunned everyone with her plain yet magnificent black and white Chanel dress. She adorned the dress with a black and white Chanel hat and pearl necklace on the bodice of the dress. Her hair was pulled up in an elegant bun that fit the dress perfectly. Jennie is a South Korean singer and musician, and she totally rocked the Met Gala.

At number 6 we have Miley Cyrus, an American singer-songwriter and actress. She wore a custom Alaïa outfit, including a long-sleeved black crocodile textured crop top and a long black skirt that brought depth and dimension to the look. She also wore a beautiful three-ringed gold necklace. Her hair was slicked back in a braid, and it gave her the look of confidence and certainty. I liked this look because the combination of the crop-top and flowing skirt really suited Miley Cyrus and fit the theme well.

Anne Hathaway always delivers, and this Met Gala was no different. Anne Hathaway is an American actress and singer. She wore a customized Carolina Herrera look, including a white button down shirt and a black and white striped column skirt with over 200,000 beads and rhinestones. I love this outfit because it fits the theme so well while being dazzling and mesmerizing at the same time.

At number 4 we have the formula one British race car driver Lewis Hamilton. Hamilton wore a bold white suit, which had a jacket, trousers with a tuxedo stripe, and a bow tie. He wore a white beret to complete the look. My favorite aspect of this outfit is that the suit’s band had cowrie shells on it. Cowrie shells are a traditional symbol in African culture, and it followed the theme of “Tailoring Black Style.” Overall, Hamilton understood the assignment and followed suit. Haha!

Entering the top 3 is American model Karlie Kloss, wearing a black dress with a high slit. She added on a gorgeous snake necklace and black boots, which fit the look, theme, and vibe perfectly. I loved how confident she looked and how the dress was plain yet paired with the jewelry and shoes looked extravagant. Kloss also revealed her baby bump with the dress and it was a really cool reveal, especially on the red carpet at the Met Gala.

The second best dressed is Lupita Nyong’o, an actress, who wore an aquamarine Chanel suit. The jacket, pants, and satin blouse were accompanied by a flowing cape which added nicely to the outfit. I loved this look because of the color and the cape, which made Nyong’o look like a warrior, and particularly beautiful.

Finally, the best dressed and most fashionable look at the 2025 Met Gala goes to Angel Reese. Angel Reese is an American basketball player, famous for leading LSU to the national championship in 2023. Reese wore a black and white two piece created by fashion company Thom Browne. The outfit was classic and chic, while fitting the theme perfectly and matching Reese’s height. I loved how it was tightly fitted and then flowed at the bottom, with beautiful jewelry to accompany the fit. Angel Reese looked stunning, and was definitely the best dressed at the Gala in my opinion.
