Royal Family Rules

Royal Family Rules

At one point in time or another, we have all wanted to be a Royal. A King, or a Queen, or a Prince, or a Princess. This dream is a very common dream and for most of us, this does not usually come true. Royal Families stretch down for many many generations. The Royal Family may be rich and famous, but they have a lot of rules to follow. Today I am going to be explaining the rules of the British Royal Family.

Rule Number One: Whenever a member meets the queen, They have to bow or curtsy. Men are required to bow and women are required to curtsy. You must only bow once or curtsy once during the day, so the first time you meet the queen, you must bow or curtsy. This is a sign of respect for the queen.

Rule Number Two: Whenever there is a dinner in the royal family if the queen puts her purse on the table, everybody must stop eating. No matter how hungry you are you must stop eating.

Rule Number Three: Whenever there is a meeting with the queen or something else. If the queen stands, you must stand. You must get up if the queen gets up. Another rule sort of like this is that Prince Phillip must always walk two steps behind her. This is to show his position as a prince and his wife’s position as queen.

Rule Number Five: No two royal heirs must travel together. This is there to protect the royal bloodline. If the plane goes down then only one heir will be dead. The other one will be safe to continue the royal lineage.

Rule Number Six: If a royal wants to propose to somebody, they have to get permission from the queen. The queen has to approve of the person that the prince or the princess picks. Until 2011 a royal was not allowed to marry a Roman Catholic. Now, however, A royal can marry somebody from any religion as long as they have permission from the Queen.

Rule Number Seven: The Royal Family must carry one black dress with them wherever they travel. This is so that if there is an emergency death they can have a mourning look. These precautions are in place so that the Royal Family does not lose face and is ready for whatever situation.

Rule Number Eight: Any Royal below 8 years old must only wear shorts. Long pants are only permitted after they are 8 years old. This is an old British tradition that is still being followed today.

Rule Number Nine: Every Royal has to have at least two children. This is to continue the royal lineage for the years to come. It’s called “the heir and the spare.”

Rule Number Ten: Every royal must have 4 names. The royal family does not have a last name. If a last name is required, they will use their title as their last name. For example, Prince George uses Cambridge as his last name in his school.

These are 10 rules that every member of the royal family has to follow from birth. As you have seen here being a royal is not all that easy. There are a lot of rules you must follow. That being said, it does not mean that being a royal does not have its perks. I hope that you enjoyed this article and learned about the rules of the royal family.
