Open House

The bell rings as parents rush through the Canyon Vista hallway, desperately trying to make it to their mustang’s classes to meet their teachers.

Open House happens every year in the first month of school. This is a time in which parents can come to Canyon Vista in the evening and walk their mustang’s schedules and meet with their teachers. Parents also get information on teacher’s websites, online textbooks, and tutoring schedules.

Open house is also a great way for students to get important information they might not have known about their teachers, their classes, or even their school.

“I like coming to Open House because I get to meet my teachers again and I get to interact with my friends,” said 7th grader Minshin Kim. Other students such as eighth grader Trevor Clift came to Open House to assist their parents. “I wanted to come so I could help my dad get around the school,” says Clift.

An eighth grade parent (who asked to remain anonymous) stated that, “Open House serves as a way to get contact information from teachers and understand teacher’s expectations for students.”

Although the beginning of school can be hectic, next time the opportunity to attend Open House comes around, try to make time for it. You might just learn something you didn’t know before!
