Being heard. Making a strong difference. Two actions that contain the same simplicity, yet the same power. Seeing a positive impact being crafted because of you, emits a wonderful, indescribable feeling. Student Council is trying to convey this, with students and classmates running for officer and representative positions for next year.

Current Student Council members are running for positions as Parliamentarian, Historian, Treasurer, Secretary, 7th Grade Vice President, 8th Grade Vice President, and President. They want to fully represent Canyon Vista and make next year fun and productive. Each of them have different visions for our school but all still want to positively influence it.

Students who are currently 8th graders will not be running to represent mustangs. Instead, since they are moving on to 9th grade, they are running for Westwood High School Student Council positions. The available positions are Co-President and Representatives. Although they won’t be at Canyon Vista next year, choosing them will be important since a mass amount of our student body is moving into Westwood and it’s beneficial to create the future for that school.

Voting, which occurs during Advisory, starts on April 14th and ends on the 18th. It’s necessary to thoroughly choose your future leaders by carefully thinking about the prospects of their personality characteristics, instead of simply picking a close friend or the one with the best sounding name. Powerful decisions will be made, and we need to start selecting who will make them.

Take a look at who is running and some of the platforms they stand for.
