Many students all around Canyon Vista participate in various exciting activities in anticipation of the new year. Ranging from getting together with friends and family to watching the New Year’s ball drop in Times Square, there are many fun and exciting ways to celebrate one year’s end and a new one’s beginning.

Some people try to make a big change for the new year by dropping a bad habit, or getting into and trying new things. These are called New Year’s resolutions. According to newsday.com, some of the top ten New Year’s Resolutions from 2015 were to lose weight, learn something new, give back to the community, to relax, and others. Sometimes these simple things are the hardest to do because we put them off as we aren’t used to doing them yet. New Year’s resolutions are a great way to improve from last year to the new one.

It’s not very hard to come up with resolutions. “There are always things people can do to better themselves. Whether it be nicer to others or improving something physically, we always have something to make us better human beings,” says 8th grade U.S. history teacher Mrs. Buentello. Starting off the new year with a change is always a great idea.

Let’s hope the new year is better than the last, and make the most of this year before it’s gone. Have a happy new year, mustangs!
